During the INNOCONSTRUCT international conference, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government of Romania to representatives of the construction industry in attendance.
Marcel Ciolacu stated: "Our companies have bravely undertaken investments and completed them impeccably. Therefore, on behalf of the Government of Romania, I want to thank you for this. Thanks to your work, Romanian builders, we have maintained an unprecedented rate of investment over the last two years. These are the first two years in which Romania has experienced GDP growth driven by investments. Thank you very much, Mr. Erbașu, Mr. Rector, Madam Director, for this invitation and especially for the opportunity to attend this important event, the fourth edition, in front of our Romanian builders. I am proud of your success."
The Technology Enabled Construction (TEC) cluster organized the fourth edition of the international conference on innovation and digitalization in construction, INNOCONSTRUCT, on May 29-30 at UTCB. The event was attended by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, along with representatives from public administration, private sectors, and associations. More than 370 participants from the construction industry and related fields engaged in 14 activities, including workshops, round tables, panels, micro-conferences, and hackathons.
Additionally, alongside company leaders, professional associations, and social partners, several representatives from central and regional administration participated in the panels and round tables, including Florin Spătaru, State Councilor from the Prime Minister's Chancellery; Anca Ginavar, Director of the Technical Directorate within the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Administration (MDLPA); Dan Nicula, General Director of ADRBI; and Liviu Mușat, General Director of ADR Sud Muntenia, among others from the Government.
Cristian Erbașu, president of the TEC cluster, remarked: "A crucial aspect of the digitization process in construction is the involvement of the state. The government plays an essential role in creating a legislative framework and public policies to support this transformation. Investments in digital infrastructure, training, and the promotion of interoperability standards are just some of the measures that can facilitate the adoption of digital technologies. Additionally, financing programs and tax incentives can encourage companies to take the necessary risks to implement innovative digital solutions. Collaboration between the public and private sectors is vital to ensure a favorable ecosystem for developing and implementing digital technologies in construction. We are pleased that this year's edition featured the Prime Minister, who showed support for the TEC cluster's efforts and demonstrated receptiveness to the challenges faced by builders."
Rodica Lupu, director of the TEC cluster, added: "The construction industry in Romania has the potential to become a top player in Europe. To achieve this, we need leadership that focuses on finding solutions to global challenges, adopting the latest technologies, and fostering innovation. We must also work to recover our specialists who have gone abroad and take responsibility for setting standards. We have brilliant architects and engineers; we just need to propose more ambitious goals, maintain constant dialogue—including through conferences like INNOCONSTRUCT—and be supported by balanced legislation adapted to current needs."
